She was not happy and decided to get another opinion. Her next Doctor said about the same thing. When my mom argued with him, he mentioned that her blood test showed that her thyroid was a little on the low side, but was still in the normal range for a person of her age. That was all she needed. She went to the local library and found a book on thyroid by Dr. Broda Barnes, MD, A thyroid specialist, Hypo-thyroidism (low Thyroid) - the Unsuspected Illness. My mom read that whole book. It was easy reading. She soon noticed a major mistake, which had been made by both doctors who had performed her checkups.
They had checked her thyroid by doing a blood test, a procedure that Doctor Barnes had found to be very faulty. One of the problems with a blood test is that it does not show the quality or efficiency of the thyroid hormone. The only reliable way to check a person’s thyroid function is by taking his or her temperature. It should be 98.6, but not less than 97.7, regardless of a person’s age. However, a person should not take his or her temperature for an hour after drinking hot or cold drinks or working hard, nor should a person breath thru his mouth while taking his temperature. Mom’s temperature was below 97.6 which indicated that her thyroid was failing. This was an emergency signal of total health failure soon. She soon got a prescription for Armour thyroid and her life changed dynamically for the rest of her life. She became a dynamo of energy for the next 30 years. However, that was only the beginning or her discoveries.
When she read page 13 and 14 she made the greatest discovery of her whole life! In these pages, Doctor Barnes relates how he discovered that none of his patients ever got heart attacks. As long as a person’s thyroid functioned correctly, or was corrected thru a prescription, he or she never ever got a heart attack. For the next 20 years of Doctor Barnes medical practice, he kept very accurate records to verify this finding. His results show that with a healthy thyroid hormone level, a person has a 94 % guarantee that he will never have a heart attack. The most dangerous thing that can happen to an older person is to have a temperature below 97.6.
Altho my grandparents all died in their late 70s, my mom and dad both lived into their 90s. They were both on a thyroid prescription during their later years. Doctor Broda Barnes book is available at most libraries and health food stores.
My Dad, Mike Stansfield, had a hard time believing some of these marvelous discoveries which mom found. Then in his late 70s he began having minor strokes. When he took his temperature it was 96.8. 98.6 is normal. He decided to get a prescription for armour thyroid. In the picture above Dad is 92 years old
CHELATION THERAPY
They also discovered a special treatment for cleaning out dad’s arteries and vanes. It is called intravenous chelation therapy. In the country of New Zealand it is a required prerequisite for bypass surgery. Generally 95% of the patients taking chelation never need bypass surgery. Within a week or two of starting chelation, Dad never had another stroke. For a full description of chelation therapy read Prescription for Nutritional Healing, 4th Edition, by Phyllis Balch, part III, page 779. available at most libraries and health food stores. It may have been about this time that I took my family to my parent’s home in Oregon for Christmas. My mother had been having some health problems. She was tired all the time, had gained some weight, and just had no energy. Her doctor told her that she was getting older, that there were no problems indicated in her check up and it was all in her head. She should just learn to live with her situation.
